Annotation of loncom/html/adm/help/tex/Course_Deleting.tex, revision 1.2
1.1 bowersj2 1: \label{Course_Deleting}
2: A course can not be ``deleted'' from a LON-CAPA server. Courses occupy
3: very little storage space, and an inactive course is not a burden on
4: the system. On the other hand, allowing data to be permanently deleted
5: could lead to serious accidental data loss.
6:
1.2 ! bowersj2 7: You \emph{can} expire the roles\index{roles, expiring} for all users in
1.1 bowersj2 8: the course. For example, when you use \textbf{ENRL} or \textbf{CUSR}
9: to put students, instructors, or course coordinators into a course,
10: you can set an ending date for those roles. When the ending
11: date\index{roles, end date} is reached, the role associated with the
12: course will not be accessible to the user any more.
13:
14: If you view the \textbf{ROLES} screen, you will see a checkbox at the
15: top that allows you to display all roles. If you check that box and
16: click the display button, you can see your current and expired roles,
17: if any.
18:
19: It is a good idea to get into the habit of setting end dates for all
20: courses.
