! 3: To configure self-enrollment:
! 4: \begin{enumerate}
! 5:
! 6: \item Select \includegraphics[width=0.03\paperwidth]{cprv}
! 7: \textbf{Manage course users} on the Main Menu.
! 8: \item At the \textbf{User Management} screen, select
! 9: \includegraphics[width=0.03\paperwidth]{self_enroll}
! 10: \textbf{User Self-Enrollment}.
! 11: \end{enumerate}
! 12: On the \textbf{Configure Self-enrollment} screen settings are available for the following:
1.1 raeburn 13:
14: \begin{itemize}
15: \item Types and affiliations of users who can self-enroll
16: \item Restrict self-enrollment to students who are listed as officially
17: registered for the course in institutional course roster(s) for sections
18: of the course or for crosslisted courses.
19: \item Opening date/time for self-enrollment and closing date/time.
20: \item Starting and ending dates for access to the course for users who self-enroll.
21: \item Assign a specific section to users who self-enroll
22: \end{itemize}
23: When self-enrollment is set up a warning will be displayed if the
24: course is not listed in any course catalogs available in the domain.
1.3 bisitz 25: Guidance on how to get the course listed will also be provided if a
1.1 raeburn 26: warning is displayed.
27:
28: If a course is listed in a catalog users when viewing the course catalog
29: will be able to search for the course (there is a checkbox to restrict
30: courses listed in the catalog display to just those courses for which
31: self-enrollment is available). If such courses exist the list of courses
1.2 bisitz 32: will include a self-enroll link for each course. Users
33: can reach the course catalog from the Main Menu screen, and also from
1.1 raeburn 34: the roles page. Course Coordinators and other users with advanced
35: roles in the system can also reach the course catalog in the same
36: way, although the link on the roles page is less prominent for these
37: types of user.
38:
39: A user must be logged into LON-CAPA in order to self-enroll in a course.
40: However, if your domain permits it, users may be able to create a
1.2 bisitz 41: LON-CAPA account and log-in. Most commonly
1.1 raeburn 42: self-creation of accounts is permitted where a user can authenticate
43: with a username and password assigned by your institution to access
44: online services provided by the institution. If a user clicks the
1.2 bisitz 45: {}``Enroll in course'' link from the catalog, and needs to
1.1 raeburn 46: create an account, once the account creation step is completed successfully,
47: the user will proceed automatically to self-enrollment in the course,
48: assuming the user meets any restrictions set for self-enrollment in
49: the particular course.
