1.8 ! webbsuza 1: \label{Docs_Overview}A LON-CAPA course is managed through
! 2: the \textbf{Course Documents} screen and accessed by selecting \textbf{DOCS} on the Remote Control or Main Menu. This screen allows you to create new resources and arrange LON-CAPA resources from
! 3: the LON-CAPA network.
! 4:
! 5: \textbf{Main Course Documents} make up the course itself. Stuents use the navigation
! 6: controls to move through the Main Course Documents. Main Course Documents are listed on
! 7: the \textbf{Navigate Course Contents} screen. Main Course Documents were added to
! 8: LON-CAPA in 2003, so pre-2003 courses (as well as courses deliberately created in
! 9: the old style) will not have Main Course Documents.
! 10:
! 11: \textbf{Supplemental Course Documents} are attached to the course but do
! 12: not appear in the main course sequence. Students access these documents by
! 13: selecting \textbf{DOCS} on the Remote Control or Main Menu. Supplemental Course Documents
! 14: are particularly useful for auxiliary files that may not be directly viewable
! 15: or usable in a browser, such as PowerPoint presentations or Word documents,
! 16: which may not work on all students' computers.
! 17:
! 18: These the two types of Course Documents are essentially identical,
! 19: except Main Course Documents have some options not available
! 20: to the Supplemental Course Documents.
! 21:
! 22: NOTE: These capabilities provide instructors the ability to extend
! 23: already existing courses, or personalize courses with their own syllabi
! 24: or information pages. Main Course Documents and Supplemental Course Documents
! 25: do not carry over from one course to another. To create
! 26: documents for use in multiple courses, please talk to your LON-CAPA
! 27: Domain Coordinator about becoming an Author. For more information about becomming an Author, see
! 28: the LON-CAPA Author's Manual available online at \underbar{http://help.lon-capa.org}.
