    5: LON-CAPA can send new message notifications to your conventional
    6: e-mail accounts. You can choose the specific types of messages
    7: which will cause notifications to be sent to the e-mail addresses
    8: you provide. The specific types of message
    9: are: critical messages, standard messages or any message. The notification e-mail
   10: will include an excerpt of the text contained in the body of the original LON-CAPA
   11: message.

   13: To receive notification e-mail do the following:

   17: \item Either move your mouse pointer over your name at the top left of the page, and select \textbf{Preferences} from the displayed dropdown, or click \textbf{Main Menu} on the Inline Menu and
   18: then select \includegraphics[width=0.03\paperwidth]{pref} \textbf{Set user preferences}
   19: in the \textbf{My Space} group.
   20: \item At the \textbf{Set my user preferences} screen, click the
   21:   \underbar{Message \& Notifications} link in the \textbf{Messages \& Notifications} group.
   22: \item In the \textbf{E-mail notification of LON-CAPA messages} section, check
   23: the checkbox labeled \textbf{Add new address}
   24: \item Type a notification address into the text field
   25:    labeled \textbf{Notification address}. This should be an Internet e-mail
   26:    address like \texttt{user@example.com}
   27: \item Use the radio buttons to select which types of LON-CAPA message should
   28:  cause a notification e-mail to be sent to the specified address. (See the Critical Messages section \ref{Course_Critical_Message})
   29: \item Choose whether you want any HTML tags contained in the original message body
   30:  to be preserved in the excerpt included in the notification e-mail.

   32: \item Repeat this procedure to add more notification e-mail addresses, one address at a time.
