Resource Space and Publishing

After you create your resource in construction space, you will need to
publish it before you can use it. Publishing places a copy of your resource from your construction (private) space into the public space. The public space is searchable and browsable. You can use the buttons SRC and RES on your remote control to search and browse the resource (public) space.

You can can publish a resource in two ways.
The first method is to click the Publish this Resource button in the
green frame in construction space after you are finished creating your resource.
This is a quick method to use after creating a problem or map (.page or .sequence).

The second method of publishing is to click the publish link next
to the resource in your directory list. For example, after you upload a new
file, you are brought back to your directory list. You can then publish your
newly uploaded file by finding the filename in the directory list and then clicking the publish link next to it.

After you select publish using one of the methods above, you will be required
to fill in metadata. Metadata specifies important information about
the resource, such as the author and copyright. You can also enter in notes,
an abstract, and keywords. Entering keywords into the meta data will
make you newly publish resource searchable.

If you want to change your resource or its associated metadata, simply
republish the resource. LON-CAPA saves all the old versions of your previous
publications. Therefore, if you make a change that you regret or simply prefer
the older version, just retrieve an old version. To retrieve an old version,
go to your construction space and find the resource. Click on the resource name. After that, click on the button Retrieve Old Version from the green frame on the top of your browser window.
