There are two main concerns with practicing.  A violinist must be mentally alert.
Secondly, a violinist must intelligently distribute the practice time.
</p>

Galamian asserts that there are three categories of practice hours
which must all be kept up with:
</p>
<ul>
<li>building time meant to overcome technical problems</li>
<li>interpreting time meant to conform a piece of work to one's ideas</li>
<li>performing time meant to ready a piece for technical performance</li>
